Upcoming merit badges 2015 and on

The first one is entitled Sign, Signals and Codes. Another one is Animation, and the third is Exploration. It's a little something for everybody. We have one with traditional skills, the Signs, Signals, and Codes, and we have a high tech one, Animation, and then we have something that's sort of full of adventure and outdoor activities, the Exploration Merit Badge.

Maybe we'll see semaphore come back along with Morse code?

I sure wish I could get a peek at the requirements for Animation and Signs, Signals and Codes. As my district's MBC coordinator, I'd like to recruit some people with expertise so I can announce them with each badge's release.

This is the first I've heard of Exploration. All I can find about it is the comment you posted. Bryan on Scouting mentioned in October CAD and Advanced Computing MBs. They were noticeably absent.

Exploration is one that just came up. No previous mention that I've seen either. Another that had previously been mentioned, but wasn't in the most recent announcement is MULTIMEDIA. No word on what happened to that one, CAD, nor Advanced Computing.

I haven't seen any info on the proposed requirements for the new badges yet. I do know that the person in charge of new merit badges, that I had close contacts with, was given a new assignment in another office, and she mentioned that the number of new badges would be slowing down as a result, since her replacement has other duties besides the new badges.

I'll be traveling for a couple of weeks before the end of the year, but hope to connect with the staff at BSA so I can get the information on these and any advancement changes which will be in the 2015 Boy Scout Requirements booklet which should come out soon after the new year starts.

Of course, there are also changes coming to the main Boy Scout advancement requirements a year from now, but other than general statements, nothing definite has been announced on that yet either.
