Can I wear insignia from days of old?

Postby Chris Taylor » Thu Oct 18, 2012 7:19 pm

My youth was filled with amazing scout experiences. As an adult, I would like to inspire the scouts I interact with to achieve similar experiences.

One of my most memorable experiences was the 15th World Jamboree. I'd like to wear the patch from that event above the right pocket on my uniform where we wore it back in the day.

The goal would be to get kids to see a patch they aren't familiar with, ask me about it, and then I could engage them in discussion that would hopefully cause them to think maybe they could go to one of the next two World Jamborees which are both within reasonable reach for them.

Would it be (un)acceptable for me to do that?

Thanks...

There is an new insignia guide out. It would be the official word.
Here is a old thread on the topic:

I would go with Paul Wolf's comment on the subject. Which is essentially yes it is OK.

Sorry if I put this in the wrong section of the forum. Just noticed. I'm old now with eyes going bad but I won't admit it, and trying to navigate the internet on a smartphone!

I hate to say this but I do not like the 2013 National Scout Jamboree Patch. Compared to my little collection of Official Jamboree Participant Patches starting back from 1973, this one looks smaller and I hate to say it "CHEAP"! I would go on about this further but will not at this point. Just my two cents worth about the 2013 patch. I wish I could go but it looks like at this point, I will be visiting due to work (I hate when work gets in the way!).
