Nutrition Merit Badge

Just a thought:

Nutrition Merit Badge

Requirements:

1) Earn the Personal Fitness Merit Badge.

2) Define nutrition and discuss with your counselor how it affects your body.

3) Prepare a chart that explains the different vitamins/minerals that can be used in your body and how your body uses vitamins/minerals.

4) Discuss with your counselor the contents of the food pyramid. Observe the recommended amount of servings per day for each food group.

5) Create a log that can be used for recording different foods that you eat for one week. Record the amounts of food, type of food, and vitamins/minerals from a food that you consume for one week. Discuss the results with your counselor and family.

6) Prepare a three to five minute speech about nutrition and how it affects our bodies. Present this speech to your troop, class, or family.

There's no question about the value of the Subject. Maybe the idea will grow from these forums, into a tasty topic. 8)
