The mother of a friend of mine works in our local Scout Shop.
Apparently there are Centennial Annivesary badges of rank...only for ranks earned in 2010.
The badges will be retired at the end of the year.
I thought the BSA might do something like this.
Glad I convinced my son to delay his EBOR (ready in late December, did the EBOR on Jan 5, 2010).
Anybody seen pictures or the actual patches?

I was surfing the net and saw them online at scoutstuff. I don't know what to say about this. I will probably buy a set for my own collection but I am not too peachy on this idea.

I bought some today for our Court of Honor next week. They actually look pretty nice. I hope the boys like them.
The best looking patches are the new position patches. Webmaster is nice but I really like the Leave No Trace Trainer patch. I guess that white thing is a fish (never caught a white fish in the mountains before...) These two images of the LNT Trainer patch are slightly different.

I don't know if I like this. Is an Eagle earned in 2010 more important than one in 2009 or 2011?

I don't really like them...but that is just my opinion.

I think it is a great idea, but they are ugly. A simple 2010 somewhere on the regular patches would have been sufficient, IMO. Once again, too bad nothing was said in advance. We had 3 boys advance in the middle of December. Lower rank, so they could have waited for 2 weeks and been eligable for these.

If you don't take care of the Cub Scouts there will be no Boy Scouts!

Agreed, except for the Eagle Patch.

How can you buy a set when rank badges are a restricted item and require an advancement report?

When there is a will, there is a way to buy them. If I have to cough up all my old cards, I will do that. But I will keep my secret to myself.

In reality they are being sold as a collector item $$$$$$$$$ But that is OK as long as that new HA base gets going down the road
