The form used to guide the council committee through this process is 92-104. This form is not generally available on the national website, but is posted online in several other places, including:
http://www.tac-bsa.org/lifesaving_merit ... _award.pdfReviewing this will give you some idea of the general process that your council will follow, but keep in mind that the specifics of how they operate within this framework are very much up each council to decide.
The most critical things you need to know is (quoting directly from the form): "Unless there are unusual circumstances that account for the time lapse, no application may be considered after a lapse of 6 months from the action without a written explanation from the Scout Executive or adviser to the council committee."
So the clock is running. This is a very important part of getting out the good story of scouting. Please don't let this get away, if there is recognition that should be given.
