Good for you. These cases are sometimes overlooked, unknown, or simply not followed up well. Just as in other walks of life, someone must get it moving.

There are procedures, that hopefully your District Advancement folks, or Council should know. They in turn could submit this for the National Court to consider. Also this may get featured in the Boy's Life magazine? Please let us know how it comes out.

Definitely contact your local council office. There is a very specific process to follow that they should be able to lead you through.

Heroism Award?

Postby Chiefsttryker » Wed Oct 11, 2006 1:45 am

I have question for you all about the heroism award.
This summer one of the wolf scouts in the pack my church sponsers saved someones life.
I am wondering what the process is for nominating a scout for one of the lifesaving awards and what I need to know/get to get the ball rolloing on this?

Thanks

The form used to guide the council committee through this process is 92-104. This form is not generally available on the national website, but is posted online in several other places, including:
http://www.tac-bsa.org/lifesaving_merit ... _award.pdf

Reviewing this will give you some idea of the general process that your council will follow, but keep in mind that the specifics of how they operate within this framework are very much up each council to decide.

The most critical things you need to know is (quoting directly from the form): "Unless there are unusual circumstances that account for the time lapse, no application may be considered after a lapse of 6 months from the action without a written explanation from the Scout Executive or adviser to the council committee."

So the clock is running. This is a very important part of getting out the good story of scouting. Please don't let this get away, if there is recognition that should be given.
