Odd Situation

This is hypothetical but I'm positive it's happened. What if an adult scouter wants to be involved in his lodge but there are no troops available to register
with the BSA? Can he register directly to the BSA then the lodge? Or would he be denied?

If he is already a member of the Lodge he may register at large with the Council.

Why would a Adult Scouter want to only be involved with the OA. To me this would be against the principals the the OA was founded on.

One of the requirements to be a registered member of the local OA lodge is to be a registered scout (Adult or Youth) on their local level. They have to first be registered on the Unit, District, or Council level.

I ran into this problem 20 plus years ago when I was Lodge Chief and going to College 100 plus miles from local troop. Troop got new SM that didnot want to keep me on with unit since I couldnot be active with local unit as he would like for me to have been. To remain as Lodge Chief I had to be registered on local level. New SM had no involvment with OA. Therefore I talked to another unit on the local level that I tranfered my membership to.

I interpret the question as: Does an adult (Who is already an arrowman) have to be registered in a Troop in order to become active in the local Lodge?

My answer would be no, they do not need to be in a Troop. They can register with District or Council as a Committee Member at Large. This would satisfy the registration requirements and allow the adult to become reinstated in the Local Council OA Lodge.

By registering as a member at large, they would be held in a pool of volunteers at the district or council level and possibly asked to help at or on district or council level events as a volunteer.
