NE 4B Conclave at Heritage Reservation this weekend

I am not. I have yet to be blessed with membership in OA. I haven't been in a Troop long enough to rack up the nights camping due to the military moving us.

I don't understand why you do not have the camping requirement in? Then again, I reread the requirements and you might not have been there long enough. BTW, what part of the PWC are you in? E-mail me. I am curious about that. My nephew is joining Nachamawat soon. I have a funny feeling he will be like his Dad and make it to a lodge officer position.

TW the Council and the districts have a nominations also each year they can use.

To use the council or district nominations, your primary position needs to be council or district.

I crossed voer to a troop in Feb 05 when my son crossed. I got two nights at the Spring '05 Camporee, 6 nights at summer camp (as the SM in charge), two more nights in a dual Troop/Crew outing. Then I left for New Orleans and Katrina for a year.

I came back to a troop (focused only on Crew stuff after Katrina and our move to the Penn's Woods Council) in the Fall of '08. I only have one night with them unless you count two nights in a cabin for winter camp. We have not gone out mch (but that is not my choice - the boys have not planned time on the woods).

So I have a grand total of 11 nights in a tent when out with a Troop. I need at least nine more total but I am guessing that it would be better if all 20 nights camping be with the same troop.

As to the District/Council using a recomendation for me, like I said, I have yet to be blessed with membership. And I am not officailly on the Council or District Committee, however, I am actively serving as the VOA Advisor but that is a Venturing thing and not a Boy Scout thing.

So whenever someone asks me about OA here, I say "I have yet to be blessed with membership."

I totally believe in the OA (from what I have been allowed to know) and would welcome the chance to provide even more help to the boys that are members.

You can dfind out anything about the OA or any fraternal organization as a matter of fact. From stumbling through the www (pun not intended), I have found all three complete ceremonies books for the OA. I had to laugh at that one. I think someone forgot to read the "Safeguard this pamphlet" quote! I am sure you can find other things if you want to look for them. Then again, maybe not!

AWell conclave is over It was Ok I was surprised that Enda did not try to one up Wagion on the Food. Wagion had 90 there and was quite vocal as would be expected. It is always nice to see friends from the Other lodges and shoot the bull. Next Years will be Hosted by Monaken at 7 Mountains Camp.

TW - requirements are 15 nights in 2 year period which must include 1 week at summer camp. However, district and council nominations can waive the camping requirements at the discretion of the lodge adviser or scout executive.

I just completed my Ordeal this weekend. It was extra special to be able to go through this with my youngest son.

OK. When I first became and ASM, I was told 20 nights for Adults. But we were in a troop that was not OA friendly due to the old SM and CC - but that changed just as I became an ASM (then the Army moved us).

I guess I do have the 15 nights if I can count the four nights in a tent for Wood Badge but not in the past 730 days. I do ahve a break for service to my country that did not allow me to camp with Scouts.

It was the CE actually. And I greatly appreciate the little birdie speaking with him. The CE is well known to the little birdie and the little birdie has provided me with a lot of support and encouragement in my personal growth as a volunteer with the Venturing program here.

I look forward to the experience and doing what I can to support the Order for the benefit of the boys and otehr deserving leaders.
