Postby rdewitt10 » Thu Aug 11, 2005 11:04 pm

I have decided that do to the injuries and deaths to both scout and scouters, that I would like to present some rehresher training. Heat and cold related training are the two formost topis that I want to do. but others are underconsiderstion. I really don't want to reinvent the wheel, but I will, I hope that there is some work all ready dome that I can be pointed to. Any help will be appreicated, thanks in advance.

Roundtable

For the "environmental emergencies" (heat and cold injuries, bites, whatever), get help to act 'em out. Use role playing, first aid make-up ideas (moulage), or assign something to attendees as they gather. Either have them read their card and be prepared (those words again!) for their part, or just tap 'em when it's time, and tell them they are the rescuers. Now, that last idea may tell where your skill level is at, but may intimidate some. Therefore that's not helpful. You have to know your target audience, as well as the subject.

I've already been asked to do a Safety Awareness presentation at September Roundtable. And I've kept all reports except for this week's event, in our local forums as well. :)

Robert,
You may want to reference the Field Book, Chapter 6, Managing Risk.
