10,000 Posts and Counting....

Postby RWSmith » Sat Aug 27, 2005 3:41 pm

Well, thanks first to the mighty Optimist for exercising the courage the Great Scoutmaster of the Universe gave him to put a little bitty idea, a dream, into motion; and second, to all of you friends who added to the momentum of this vehicle, one rubber band at a time... We've reached a milestone... 10,000 posts and counting. Congratulations. And thank you, one and all. :D And though we acknowledge the primary purpose of this board is to help Scouts with Advancement issues, the fellowship that is experienced around our campfire is the glue that binds us together.

Congrats on reaching 10,000 posting. This is my first posting and the reason why I am posting now is that I recieved this e-mail from MeritBadge.net .

The following is an email sent to you by an administrator of "MeritBadge.net".

Hi There are alot of you that are members yet have never posted anything. Time may be coming that we will start removing those that have not posted.

Why does one have to post on this site to be a member? Most of my question or concern I have, I have found the answers already posted.

John as a humble supporter of this board I will give you my take on this. one of the reasons is the youth protection and we dont want a bunch of stalkers just sitting by waiting. and then we would like to hear from everbody if ythey have a question or could answer a question from someone else. see scouting is for everyone but if you dont support the group then after a while you get bumped out as a general housekeeping rule. I dont think it is a personal thing but we value everyone and would like to hear from you.

Not for long since they are obviously not welcome. :(

There are many very good Scout Forums out there who welcome all Scouters, active or lurker.

This discussion board should let people know upfront what the minimum posting numbers are and that they are not welcome if they just wish to read & learn. Is there a content requirement also? Do you get kicked off if they don't think that what you are posting is "good" enough?

I certainly hope so. Children (anyone under 18 ) are on this board and read the discussions. Also, it is a private board, therefore the owner has the right to do as he wishes with the board. This is NOT a public forum.

The policies are here-

They're not very restrictive and understandable considering the audiance. Also, reading posts don't require registration (at this time). My guess is the lack of posting causing the user to be removed is a housekeeping issue.

I made the post as a house keeping item. Several months ago optimist did just that cleaned house. Will everyone be removed ? Probably not. But those that have been members since a year ago and have not posted something should take a look. This is nothing personal Just housekeeping!

Okay. But I joined Saturday and received the message on Monday. Or are things passing me by even faster than I thought?

Group Email. I can only send to one person or everyone. When you have this many members group mail makes more sense.
