Get as much training as you can, and know everyone's job. Remember the kinds of things you like (patrol competitions vice boring lectures for scout skills for one) and that will help too. (Short lessons have their use)

Use the patrol system. My son hated it when his SPL or ASPL told one of his members to do something instead of asking him the patrol leader provide a volunteer. Once that got fixed, my son always reminded the person that he represented their patrol and was confident that he would make them all proud, then wished him luck (even if it was latrine duty!) Things seemed to go much smoother in the troop because patrol leaders were counted on to lead too.

Congratz on both!..... you shoud look on you council site and Talk to yous SM about getting into the next NYLT, Nylt is a really good training program and alot of fun!

wow! :shock: I've been on couple of forums before, but I NEVER seen somebody try to restart a thread that is 2 years old!

the thing is we have NEW people all the time so it ok to restart a old thread. because sometimes people feel strongly about different items. a lot of times it is great to have a new outlook on something from the past. so any posters that are reading this feel free to add comments on any thread whether it is old new or anywhere in between.
