Searching for new summer camp

Postby hops_scout » Wed Jul 13, 2005 10:02 pm

**Sorry for those of you who have seen this over at Scouter.com as well**

Hello. Troop 323 returned from "wonderful" Camp Joy in Carlyle, IL Saturday. Monday night at PLC it was brought to the PLC's attention that a new camp would be something to look into.

I come here tonight representing Troop 323 in our search. We are looking for a camp that meets the criteria listed below.

-No more than a 3-4 hour drive from Waterloo, IL
-Variety of merit badges
-Patrol method supported
-Patrol cooking for majority of meals
-High Adventure activities offered for the older boys
-Good aquatic area
-COPE is a good plus
-First Class program would be good

If you know of any camp around Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, etc please let me know either here or by PM.

thanks

Camp Ransburg near Bloomington, Indiana would fit your requirements. Go to www.ransburgbsa.org

We are in north eastern Ohio, so I can't suggest any camps for the folks from Illinois.

I would be interested in any recommendations for camps with the same requirements, but in a 2-3 hour radius around Greater Cleveland.

Guys are a little late for that suggestion! I looked at that camp, but never got any feedback on it until now.

Oh well, we decided to return to Camp Sunnen in Potosi, MO.

If you want a good High Adventure program check out Chisolm Train at Sid Richardson in Longhorn Council. Ft. Worth Texas. Great program.

Our troop is going to Slippery Falls in Ok. this year. Everyone we have talked to that has gone there has loved it.
