I am wondering if for every merit badge counselor or region where they accept merit badges, if they all vary on the requirements you need to complete an eagle. My friend's coming along quite well but it would be nice to speed things up a little because he is just always so busy, does anyone have any advice?? we're getting kinda desperate, lol.

One of the easiest way to get things on the fast track is making sure that all paper work is done. Have one boy who is 17, lacks 6 badges, 5 are because he simply has not done the paper work.
I understand that doing paper work is a boreing part of earning badges, but it is still part of what has to be done. Stay on him about doing the paper work.

You also didn't mention what is left for him to do so we can't advise to well but if he has any ERB's left that have the 90 day requirements, I would advise him to start those right away.

My scoutmaster once told me that “He never meet a scout that wanted to be an Eagle Scout that didn't earn eagle, but he met many scouts who said they wanted to be Eagle Scout but never became an Eagle Scout.” Then he asked me which one am I. Nine months until my 18th birthday five eagle required merit badges left and an eagle project to start planning.

It may appear to be imposable, but its not you just have to work hard and if you really want it you will find a way to get it done. Nine months latter a day before my 18th birthday I finished that last merit badge and had my scoutmaster conference. Soon I was an Eagle Scout because I put in the effort to get it. Remember if you really want to be an Eagle Scout you will do the work, the requirements will not become easier for you, you still have to plan and demonstrate leadership with an Eagle Project, and after that court of honor you will be thankful that becoming an Eagle Scout is changeling without that challenge being an Eagle Scout is less of a meaningful accomplishment.

My advice to scouts don’t to wait to the last minute to start working on earning your Eagle Scout.
