Chaotic Closing Campfire

Postby stevenscout » Fri Mar 03, 2006 7:00 pm

This happened several years ago at Camp Sequoyah. We were gathered at the closing campfire and all the scouthmasters and leaders were called to the front to be recognized. All of a sudden one staffer threw another staffer into the lake (I think it was planned). Then another staffer was thrown in. Next thing I know everybody was running torwards the lake to throw people in including people from my troop. Later I was thankful that I staid in my seat. There was a running, screaming mob of around 200 people next to the lake. My scoutmaster was yelling at the top of his lungs for our people to sit back down. Eventually people settled down and the program was finished. When we got back to camp my scoutmaster sent everyone who had ran to bed 2 hours early. It was a crazy night. Has anyone had a similiar experience?

So much for the Scout Sign?

No, nothing ever to that extent and I don't need to. There have been campwide water balloon fights that started to get a bit out of control, but the camp staff (that were not involved) were able to blow a few horns, put up the scout sign, and regain control.

At my jlt session i with a couple others led the charge to stage a sit down. Until they met our demands we wouldnt do anything. My friend who was on staff at the time knew it was a joke, and had the staff go along with it, but everyone else thought it was real.

That makes this H&S Chair grit his abcessed tooth!! Not to worry, the tooth comes out Monday.....but a nightime mad dash to the lake is potentially a scary thing at an outing. I'm sure the accountability of members was successful, and no injuries were found either.
