algonquin canoe area

has anyone been to algonquin canoe area. i have an opportunity to go there next summer. i was wondering what its like, difficulty of it, prparations neccessary, anything helpful.

Great trip in Beautiful Ontario Canada

Our older boys went a couple years ago and did their 50 miler.

GO!!!!! They had a great time and it was pretty inexpensive. The troop owns a couple canoes, borrowed a couple and borrowed a trailer for them. They dried some of their own food. The whole trip ran them about $126 per person for 7 boys and three adults. (The trip to Tinnerman ran about $325 through Council that year).

This year they did a similar trip on the Au Sable River in Michigan for a similar cost.

Before you go, it is not a bad idea to earn the canoeing merit badge so you can handle the canoe well. There was also some portaging that needed to be done and so learning how to best pack and carry your stuff is also a good idea.

i dont know what part we are going to yet. plans are sketchy. i know we are doing around 200 miles though. and cost as of now is set around $400. im really hoping to go. thanks for the input so far guys.

things just didnt work out. it was going to be $350, and that was $350 i didnt have, since i wouldnt be able to get a job if i went, so it just didnt work out oh well, maybe next time.

yes, very sorry to hear your news but can certainly understand. May I suggest that you start saving for next year and try to go next time.

Also, for your self or anyone out there - this is a fabulas place to go, so even if you don't go with your unit, try to make the trip sometime in your life - you won't be dissapointed!
