I've been speaking with our SPL. He's aware that something is "wrong" with the troop but didn't know what or how to fix it. He's contacted our SM to announce that he's asked me to present some of my Philmont info at Sunday's PLC meeting! I'm going to give a brief description of an ideal troop and recommend that we immediately discuss and adopt a year-round program, realign patrols/create a Venture Patrol, and use BSA's troop meeting planner. All troop adults are being invited, and all Scouts have been asked to contact their PL with ideas.

Based on past history, I'm not hopeful, but I'm going to give it a shot. Depending on what happens after this meeting, I may or may not begin a new troop. I'm heading to the Council office today to pick up the "new troop" literature that's available. Wish us luck!

If you are planning to start a new troop, do you have a charter org partner in mind? That is a rather big first step.

Good luck in your presentation. Remind everybody the program is for the boys. If they are not having fun & getting something of value; the program will fall apart regardless of the intentions
