Wear my cub religous on my Boy Scout shirt?

Postby pipestone1991 » Tue Aug 22, 2006 4:47 pm

,Now i earned the Parvouli Dei (or however you spell it) back in 2000 or 2001 as a cub scout. I read somewhere that I can wear it on my Boy Scout uniform.....can I confirm this?

The religious square knot (silver on purple) may be worn by youth or adult members who earned their religious emblem as a youth.

The knot is worn over the left shirt pocket of the Scout uniform. The religious emblem itself (usually a medallion) is pinned over the square knot for full uniform occasions.

there is a small pin, called a device, that you center on the knot which signifies whether you earned the award as a cub scout, webelos scout, boy scout, venturer

I believe that if a Boy Scout wishes to wear the actual Parvuli Dei Medal, you would just wear the bar and not the suspended medallion.

You can opt to wear the Yoiuth Religious Award Square Knot (Silver Knot on Purple background) with the Cub Scout device to signal award of the Parvuli Dei as well.

Nope - You do not take apart your religious medal! That is like having an adult who has been awarded a religious emblem wear only the ribbon around his neck & not the medal that hangs from it. Silly.

The knot represents the emblem that was earned by the youth. As the BSA states, for full uniform occasions, the (entire) actual medallion can be pinned over the knot if the wearer so wishes.

I thought you added a device if you earned the appropriate award at a different level. So, Cub, Web, Boy, and Adult devices could all be on the same knot.

I had to post that I read the thread title as skirt, not shirt. And I worry. :D

momma-bee you are correct. you may wear more than one device if you have earned the award during different levels in scouting.

If the only award was earned in the Scout's CURRENT level, then the device is OPTIONAL. So a Cub Scout or Webelos Scout need not wear the device until he gets the second award. Similarly, a Boy Scout that earns only the first Boy Scout level Award need not wear the device until he gets the second award.

A Boy Scout that had earned a Cub and/or Webelos level award should wear the devices.

For those interested in such trivia, the device (for Youth) started in 1983.
