Are Scoutmasters listening

Postby Iditarider » Mon Aug 28, 2006 7:21 pm

In my troop we were supposed to do something that I was supposed to organize. I told the scoutmaster a specific date and then he called me back and left me a message telling me he couldn't do that day and he'd have to do another day. But then he sent out an email that told our entire troop the day that couldn't work was the day that were going to go.

Advice

Dont sweat it. In a troop level leadership position this is just a small problem. Call the scoutmaster and tell him that he had told you a different date than the one in the e-mail. If he e-mailed the worng date offer to send a correction e-mail.

I agree, this should not be a big problem, approach the SM and ask which date is correct as you have conflicting dates between your phone message and the email.

As SM of my Troop, I work with the PLC to set the calendar for the coming year in July/August. However, that being said, after we set the calendar, and as the year goes on, facts and crcumstances change that require us all to be flexible. Given the dynamics of life, I will state that at times I get confused and make mistakes in communicating the change.

Again, be respectful and ask the SM which date is correct, and realize we all make mistakes.
