Changing an Eagle project

My son spoke with an organziation he was interested in helping and doing a project for. After multiple emails and phone calls back and forth he finally got an appt to discuss it further with the manager. This was after a positive (and prompt) initial response. Since then he got his SM's approval and has written a couple of times to get a signature. He even sent the proposal by email to be reviewed thinking it would be easier and save time for the manager. Still no response and he has decided to go elsewhere. He plans on writing another email thanking the manager for his time, but that it doesn't look like the project is going to be doable and so on. This is after sixteen emails and 3-4 phone calls and even being thanked for his preservernce.

Should the information above, including copies of his emails, be included with his 'new' Eagle project--whatever that might be. It's hard to start over but he wasn't getting anywhere with the first one. (sigh)

He will probably get asked about project stumblimg blocks at his Eagle BOR. This would be one. He may want to bring the stuff to the BOR as it shows the work that he did that didn't pan out.

he shouldn't include any of the old material in the new project (unless it applies to the new project). he should bring up the point that his first project didn't go through when the district adv. chair approves your son's project. And as previously stated he will more than likely be asked about it at his Eagle Board, so he should be prepared to show where/how it failed and what the original plan was and what he did different the second time that made this one succeed.

I am a District Advancement Chairman.

An Eagle project can not be halted once it is approved except for exceptional situations (like the church you were going to help remodel was torn down vice being remodeled). However, this project was never approved as it never got to the district level, nor even the committee level, so such is not the case here. A project is not actully fully approved until the district adv chair signs it.

This project never even was officially approved by the sponosoring organization as they never signed it. I'd come up with a new idea. Do not include the old papers in the new project unless they're related. However, as it may come up on his Eagle BOR, I'd bring them to the BOR just in case he needs to refer to them.

Had this happen to Kevin. He wanted to make new bird houses for our Nature Center. Talked to the director, she said ok. He ask which birds visited the center. He did research about the types of houses and then build three samples to show her. He called her about coming out and getting a signature. SHe ask him how old he was and he told her. She told him that they didn't work with anyone on Eagle projects with anyone under the age of 16.
So now he is now working on one with his school. Should have it approved by them tomorrow.

This looks like it is the requirement of the Nature Center and not of the troop. I do not see a problem with this.

The nature center is free to make it's own rules. The director should have told Kevin he had to be 16 in the begining rather after he had worked up the project.
