Postby diamondbackAPL » Sun Mar 12, 2006 5:02 pm

this is Shane, and for the first time in the history of our troop, we are not going to Skymont. instead, we're going to camp Sidney Dew, which is somewhere in NW GA. Has anyone else been there? if so, can you tell me about it.

sidney dew comments

Several Baton Rouge area troops have gone there and had good reviews. Climate is summer would be wonderful. I get the impression this is a smaller camp than Comer / Woodruff / Rainey Mountain, which has its plusses and minuses. Merit Badge selection isn't as great as some of those bigger camps, but it seems to be a quality program from reviews I've heard.

We were at Sidney Dew this summer. It is a lot smaller than Woodruff, 250-300 compared to 700+ for Woodruff. Less merit selection than Woodruff, but what is offered is well done. I was very happy with Sidney Dew's first year program. The best thing about Sidney Dew is staff's attitude. They were very helpfull.
