You'll get different feedback about this being BSA any longer, but that isn't important. To help give some direction, check out the "learning-for-life.org" site. Exploring is now under the Learning for Life division of their programs. And this includes Fire, as well as other career exploration opportunities.
Since I was involved in this, prior to the move to LFL, let me give some general response to your question. Age 14 and completion of eigth grade, OR 15 years up until the 21st birthday, is a general requirement. If you ask a specific Post, they may have a more limited age group? If you have interest in the Fire Service as a career, this will be very useful. It does not include letting you fight Fires. I've known some Units that trained youth in this, others that permitted "ride outs" after training. But Units should never allow Explorers to engage in dangerous fireground activities! The website, or local Posts should answer your questions.
