Using Robert's Rules in a regular troop meeting is probably not the best way to run a meeting. Robert's Rules are too structured for the nature of a troop meeting. They are good for things such as committee meetings, PLC(s) and formal business meetings, such as an OA LEC or Council Exec Board Meeting.
When I was in Philmont this summer the thing that we stressed to one another was flexibility. In meetings such as a PLC, if the SPL wants to use Robert's Rules, it should be used as a guide and not 'the law'. That is just what thing that we discussed for about an hour....
