A scout may wear the Eagle Badge upon notification that his Eagle application has been approved by national. Most scouts continue to wear the Life rank patch until their Eagle Court of Honor. I know a scout in our council that had his Eagle Board of Review in Late September 2006. He received notification from our council in late October 2006 that his Eagle application had been approved by national. This scout had his 18th birthday in late December 2006. He began wearing his Eagle rank patch upon receiving notification that he was officially an Eagle Scout. He has not yet had his Eagle Court of Honor. He wanted to be able to wear the Eagle patch for the two months before he turned 18. He was correct in that he earned the right to wear that patch and it was understandable why he did not want to wait until his court of honor.

In the troop in which I serve, scouts (below Eagle) are given their rank patch a week after they have completed their board of review. They usually have it on their uniform when they are recognized at a court of honor. The same may procedure may apply to an Eagle Scout (pending approval of the application by national). It would be the scout's choice. He has a right to wear the rank patch that he has earned.

Now the question is "Should he?" That is his and only his choice.

The choice is his only. IMO, he should wear it after he gets notification from national. If he was able to achieve the rank of Eagle, he should wear his proper rank as a role model to his fellow scouts.

He can wear the patch as soon as he hears from National that he has been awarded the rank.

Folks,

Please, no duplicate posts in multiple forums. Thanks.

I'm gonna leave this one here, since there are already good posts (in both threads); but, I'm locking this one and dropping a marker (click here) for the other thread.

Thanks, again.
