Can you do that? The WB rule that I heard says a person can only be SM once, and then after that can only serve as a Mentor. By that rule, nobody can be 'Woodbadge Scoutmaster for the past couple of years.'

I may be wrong in that female being the SM for Woodbadge for the past couple of years. I have not attended Woodbadge, but I do remember that she was the SM a few years ago and she has contacted me trying to get me to sign up a couple of times this past year. I guess I just assumed she was the SM again. If the rules say a person cannot be SM more than once, then she probably was SM only once and was just trying to help get folks signed up.

Sorry, most likely a poor assumption on my part.

In my council (Atlanta Area), even though we have a policy of raising Wood Badge Scoutmasters up through the ranks to serve only once, we've had several people who have served at least twice. However, if I recall correctly, the reason for this was because the person who was originally chosen to serve as Scoutmaster had to step down (due to health problems, job changes, etc). Preparation for each course starts over a year in advance so throwing someone inexperienced into that role with only three months left to go might be asking for trouble.

Generally, someone is only a Woodbadge Scoutmaster once. I also know of a case where the Scoutmaster had to step down at the last minute, and a former Scoutmaster was asked to step in so the course could be run.
