Indeed, apropiate atire should be worn, by both sexes. I dont think that one should get special treatment.

Excellent point, Hubert. It would be equally inappropriate for a Scout or adult male volunteer to wear a very revealing swimsuit.

Now as to how you'd define "revealing" I suppose you could get into specifics about length of the trunks, coverage of the hind end, and so on, but one would hope that common sense would prevail at some point.

Is this a real problem or a hypothetical discussion?

The real problem I guess is with female. Not trying to sound sexist, but, you have more revealing outfits for the females then the males.

Reading a couple earlier posts, females are wearing revealing outfits.

What is revealing with a scout or Venturing Uniform? That is required for camp members.

At some camps, I am guessing, different shirts are worn. Its not an issue here, but in a post I saw it was. The boys were oogling (spell check) over the girls.

If anyone is wearing inappropriate dress or engaging in inappropriate behavior, I would expect camp management to deal with that.

As for as boys "oogling" girls. I don't think length or style of bathing suit has any effect on that.

well when you have teenage boys and older girls there will always be the ogling effect going on. the summer camp that we attend has female staff members they have always been dressed with the proper attire. I have had no trouble with the way the staff members were dressed. now on another area I went to Disney World las Oct. and went to a water park one day. talk about some awful looking attire fat overweight men in racing speedos. woman were not much better. but if the person in question would think about the attire in question then think about the boys then there would be no question about attire.

Two years ago I was at Summer Camp and there was a UK coed Scout unit there. The novelty wore off after Day 2.

The only real problem I have ever encountered, which is told to me from other scouters, was a scout from over seas. She was from Europe and started to get changed right on the beech, not in the changing area. Thankfully, no boys were around, it was just staff. She was used to just changing right there.

LOL! I was a competitive swimmer in high school, so I can say that a racing Speedo is not obscene or inappropriate in it's proper environment. However, even as a boy, I wouldn't wear one to the beach or to a swim party, much less a waterpark.

I'm afraid I'd be one of those "fat overweight men" you're talking about if I were to try to get into one of those today! I wouldn't even attempt that in the privacy of my bedroom, and you'd need a gun to get me in public in one.

Indeed! One of my teachers is a wrestling coach, and an all American wrestler. He has agreed to wrestle three of his students, for a price. Its a fund raiser for our prom. Someone said that they will pay extra to see him in the singlet, I raised my hand and said Ill pay extra to see him not. lol. It was amuseing, and one disturbing thought.

I can't believe this topic has gone to where it has gone.

In my opinion (for what it's worth) is who cares if they are male or female if they are the best qualified candidate for the position.

If the most qualified person is working in the position, gender will be blurred and the scout will have a great experience.

Please get over it and join the 21st century.

You are going to see more and more females at camps. And I agree get over it. At the 2005 Jamboree I actively recruited female staff mambers fvor the rappel tower in action D I had two adult and two youth females and they were great. I would like to have half my staff at the Jamboree female as they are the most active part of Venturing.
