Thanks for pointing that out wagon. But there is not a requirement for a Troop BOR for Eagle. Something is really amiss here!

It sounds like a dry run to me. Make sure the boy is prepared for the real thing at the council level.

If the paperwork is not all correct, it should get flagged at Council before the EBOR is scheduled.

In our troop, both the SM and I individually review all the pieces before the SM conference.

We have not had a kid not be ready for his EBOR, but one almost failed because when asked about which point of the Law he would eliminate, he said reverent and the guy from council didn't like that.

Ok I have a question about a Troop BOR for Eagle.

What if a troop "recommends" a Troop BOR? My son's troop offers and recommends (note they do not require) a troop BOR to help the scout have another review of the paper work to make sure it is in order before the Eagle BOR, and as an extra step to make sure they are prepared.

They have never had a boy that went through the Troop BOR have a problem passing the Eagle BOR at the Council level. However a few that opted out, turns out were missing something in the paperwork and had to go back.

So I guess what I am asking is it ok that they offer/recommened a troop BOR but do not require it?

It's not recommended......it's required, I'm going to bring this up.
