I haven't seen any recent info on the 2007 World Jamboree. Anyone "in the know" have any updates that they can share with the group?

Detroit Area Council is all filled up for registration. I wanted to go so bad, and then found out about 2 weeks ago that the registration was filled.

I guess what ive been told there are still staff spots at the actually jamboree..but i dotn know how true that is.

WOW! Not much info on this topic. I would have expected that with the wide range of Scouts and Scouters active here someone would have had quite a bit of info.

Maybe this explains why I am not getting much from our local council.

Friend of mine is a SA for a World Jamboree Troop from our Region.
The troop has already had two weekend campouts (last fall).

Trip includes just 3 days in London...kind of lame if you ask me.
(Although the price was NOT.)

Most contingents from other countries are having scouts stay with British scout families as part of the World Jamboree experience. Two or three scouts stay with a family for a few days before/after the Jamboree.

U.S. contingent is NOT doing this.
(Wonder if insurance and lawyers and liability had anything to do with that decision.)

I'm going to be in the UK while the Jamboree is on. My son and I will visit for the day. Not as good as participating but still a chance to enjoy a unique event.

I read on the official website that they now are sure there will be scouts from every scouting organization in the world.

The UK is a gtreat place to visit. Of course when you get back you can start planning on attending the National Jamboree in 2010. :twisted:

I hope to go! I went to the 05 one and had a great time. I'll be 18 in 2010, so I could be an assistant scoutmaster.
