One of the things that impressed me about Slippery Falls was the badge program. When we registered we received a leader packet. It listed allthe badges that were going to be offered. It also listed any requirements that they suggested be done before getting to camp. We got this information in March. Went to camp in June. We had 10 boys complete 35 badges. There were 5 badges not complete but one was Insect Study and he didn't get his 50 insects collected. The others were Astronomy and they still need to track a planet for 4 weeks and the moon for 5 nights. We started doing this after our first meeting after we got home. We will track Jupiter for the next 4 weeks. The boys have already finished the moon. Only one boy didn't complete one badge because he simply didn't get his work done.

well, this year, i came home with soil and water conservation, and canoeing. thats the least amt. of mb's ive come home with ever. most of the boys in the troop brought home 2-3, and a few finished 4. as far as im concerned , the way they "re-did" the camp this year ( with management, mb's, ect) really sucked !!! :x :( the mb scheduling was by far the worst though. it screwed everybody up, and it made it so that there were too many people in a mb at one time !!!

thank goodness were gonna go on a "big trip" next year.

Well my son is the one going but he doesn't read/participate here so I will answer for him.

He is taking E prep, Astronmy, Wilderness Survival Bird study and one other non Eagle required. I forget which one.

This is his 2nd year at Summer camp. They are driving out to Wyoming to Camp Buffalo Bill.

My son will be taking Fire Safety, Mammal Study, Rowing, Soil & Water Conservation, and Wood Carving for his second camp year.

That will bring him up to 25 total (unless you count all the partials that he will probably finish before camp).

The camp doesn't offer any Eagle Requireds that he doesn't have.

He has 6 or 7 (3 required) currently in progress that he will probably finish before camp.

Ah, Pioneering, the most Boy Scouty of all the merit badges, two thumbs up!

My son is taking Swimming, Camping, and First Aid to get some Eagle required badges, and Pioneering and Wilderness Survival because he wants them for fun.

I thought three Eagle required badges would be tough, but all of them have some pre-reqs that another Counselor must sign off on before they show up for Camp, so the workload will be less during the week.

Swimming doubles as "Eagle required" and "Fun", and Camping and Wilderness Survival seem like there will probably be some overlap.

All in all, I think he's selected a good line-up.

He's most excited about Pioneering.

My son is taking Environmental Science, Emergency Preparedness, Wilderness Survival, Pioneering, and Forestry. This will be his 2nd year of summer camp. Last year he was in the 1st year camping program at summer camp. The 2 that he is most excited about taking are Pioneering and Wilderness Survival.
