Scholarships for Eagle Scouts

Postby farmwife » Thu Aug 02, 2007 3:08 pm

I recently found that Texas A&M offers scholarships to Eagles that meet academic requirements and agree to join the Corps of Cadets. Also found that the US Army acknowledges the Eagle rank by enlisting new recruits as E3s (PFC) as opposed to E1s (plain ol' private).

Are there other colleges that provide similar incentives (especially in Texas)?

When a Scout Recieves Eagle he should get with his packet a list of Known scholarships. ALso each Region has scholarships as does the OA.AS far as colleges and Universities I do not know. I do know that when My daughter Was accepted to the college she went to she was given a 5000.00 per year for 4 years scholarship due to her scouting activities both with BSA and GUSA.

If you are an Eagle Scout and enlist in any branch of the U S Military, you will be promoted to E-3 instead of E-1.

The same holds true for those individuals who take 4 years of JROTC in their high school.

The American Legion offers scholarships to Eagle Scouts who are members of a unit chartered to an American Legion or who is the child or grandchild of an American Legion member.

The BPO Elks gives scholarships to Eagle Scouts as well.

I know in the past, the competition for these scholarships has not been overly competitive. that is not many individuals applied.

Google Eagle Schout scholarships and you will find other organizations and colleges that grant scholarships for Eagle Scouts. I would say good luck, but this year my son is a senior.

When did that happen? I almost always knew it to be that you got E-2 for being an Eagle.

The USAF and the USCG also give E-3 for the Billy Mitchell Award in Civil Air Patrol. Just as a side note.

Oh, and here is link that will mention some scholorships available to Eagles

I didn't think the Marine Corps recognized any outside training or at least BSA training (i.e., Eagle Scout)

I may have been out of turn, I know the Army and Air Force provide the promotion to E-3. (I was former Army). I am not certain about the Navy and Marine Corps however.

Marines will take the recommendation from JROTC for E-1 through E-3.
