Okay all you scoutmasters out there...

What do you like to discuss with Eagle candidates during their scoutmaster conference for the rank of Eagle Scout?
Do you have any topics other then the ones covered at

I have only sat in on one Eagle BOR. We also discussed the scout's post-eagle involvement in scouting and how he thought that he could use his Eagle rank to help other scout's in his troop, OA, etc.

I like to get the Scout thinking about his post Eagle involvment in the Troop. Where does he see himself fitting in? how is he going to give back to the troop? what new challenges can we present to him?

I also enjoy reflecting on his past experiences that got him to this meeting. What did he like? What did he not like? What would he change about the program, the troop, etc.? I ask him to give me an evaluation on how I am doing as a leader, what about my leadership style does he like? what does he not like? What would he do different, and why?

I also try to get him to think about his role and his future aoutside of Scouting. Where does he want to go to college? Does he want to go to college? What goals does he have short term and long term? What can the Troop or myself do to help him achieve these goals?

This is where I like to focus my time when I have the chance to talk with the Scouts at their conference.

Best Regards,
Chief J

When I was a SM, I would go over what the Scout was expected to know for his EBOR. We would also discuss his project & talk about his leadership in the unit & his project.
