Velcro Update, Just Like the Army

well if you go somewhere like uscav you can find the velcro ment for the tan BDU's and it would work just as well for Boy scout shirts.....

Just last weekend, I saw a leader's shirt w/ a tan velcro "patch" on the arm where the position patch was. His had a SM patch at the time, but could quickly be changed to his "advisor" patch for his OA chapter. VERY COOL!

Cool indeed. But I can not find any where in the Uniform Code that allows this.

All I find is sewing and "Patch Attach" glue.

My issue will be needing to also remove Crew Numbers as well as the Position Patch, and then moving the Trained Patch up to the proper position (placement without Unit Numbers).

Well the catchall, but official point made in the Insignia Guide is that "proprietary" backings are to be used. Others (as in alterations) is considered by them to be an illegal thing.

This is just someone's two cents worth, and it would not please everyone, nor can you do that anyway. If you can do what has been described (the added backings) and still wear the Uniform smartly as BSA prescribes, then that shouldn't be a concern since people aren't likely to know. It's not being wrong for wrongs sake, but respectful and discreet if that's what you have to do. Make note, this Scouter didn't tell anyone to do it, and I did say what the Guide details we do. But folks all over are going to do these things out of need, or to be clever perhaps.

What this guy does is get some cheaper Uniforms to wear in my different roles, and for camp spares.

OK...So what is the proper proceedure to SUCCESSFULLY get the National HQ to change the Guide to allow velcro?

I'd imagine wagion would know, perhaps trying to just call national?
