A Venture Patrol is one of three types of patrols that a troppis made of, the other two being New Scout Patrols, and Regular Patrols. The Venture Patrol is made of Boys 13years-of-age through 17. The elect a ptrol leader who is a member of the PLC like any other patrol leader. They were the Boy Scout fiels uniform like other Boy Scouts. They use the Boy Scout Advancement Program that has additional enchancemts in the way of a special recognition program based on Sports, and High Adventure topics.
(see page 420-421 of the Boy scout Handbook)

Venturing is a separate program for Boy Scouting just as Cub Scouting is. The unit is a "crew" rather than a troop or patrol. The aduts are an Advisors and Associate Advisors. The unit holds a separate charter with the council unlike a Venture Patrol which is covered like other patrols, on the troop charter.

Venturing has it's own uniform (or lack of) its own advancement program (or lack of) and its own program methods which differ in many ways from the troop scouting methods.

Its mebership rules are also different in that a female can be a member of a crew but not a Venture Patrol in a troop. And in Venturing you are a youth through the age of 20 rather than 17 as in the troop.

Since "High Adventure patrol" is not a recognized program element of the troop I have no idea what it is specifically. I would guess since it is a contrived element of the troop it can be whatever the troop wants to say it is.

I don't know if I can add to what Commish3 has said, but that doesnt mean I wont try. A Venture Patrol is part of a Boy Scout Troop. A Venture Crew is a separate organization completely and entirrly. A Venture Crew can have girls, a Venture Patrol cannot. A Venture Patrol needs to be part of a Troop. A Venture Crew is its own organization with Committee Chair and Charter all its own.

It doesnt help that Philmont calls its treks "crews" but that has nothing to do with Venturing. Anyhow, between what Commish3 has and what I have aded, do you have any questions? I am ADC-Venturing and I have as many District and Council people ask me about Venturing as unit leader types
