BSA has a pre-planned curriculum for a troop JLT. You should be able to find it at your Scout shop. It is scout part #WW34306 and costs $8.25. It's a great place to start!

Our Troop just completed their JLT training for the year. My suggestion would be to have an all day session. Don't forget to have do-nuts and juice available during the morning session and then have lunch at the site (Pizza is great...you don't have time to waste cooking/cleaning) Also some soda, pretzels, etc are a great break from the normal scout meeting.
We also handed out notebooks/pens at the beginning so that the scouts could take notes.
Make sure you complete the team building activities...they are great!

Kevin lacks two points on his First Class. He wants to get it finished so he can take out Council JTL training during spring break this year. The troop will be sending two boys. So he has to meet some requirements from within the troop.
He also informed me he wants his Eagle by 16. My response was,
"OK Kid, get working, because you can do it if you really want to and focus"
your community is a tree. You are either a leaf that feeds it or mistletoe that suckes it dry. Be sure you are always a leaf.
