Possible Eagle Scout Project

Postby scubascout » Mon Oct 29, 2007 8:51 pm

I just got Life over the summer and I was figuring out what to do for an eagle scout project. I came down with two ideas.

1. Reblaze and preform maintance on the hiking/backpacking/running/mountain biking trails in the local park

2. Do something with the local bay keeper. A bay keeper is a job which is in charge of water conservation in our bays and ponds

Are these substantial eagle scout projects?
Comments?
Other Ideas?

Thanks

Substantial? If you can make it that way......they sound like good ideas, I would go talk to someone now to get everything ready so you can begin after winter.

They sound like two very good starting point ideas.

Take a look at the thread linked below if you want more ideas.

Yes, they could be substantial, the best folks to talk to before you put alot of effort into the writeup is your Scoutmaster or your Troop Advancement Chiar. These two resopurces should be able to guide you and provide valuable input.

If they do not know, they can guide you to or talk to the District Advancement Folks to discuss and receive buy-in.

Best of Luck,

If you were to ask for my vote, I'd say go with the bay keeper. The first sounds like other eagle projects I've heard of and another candidate is likely to do if you don't. Talk to the bay keeper and get specific project ideas to take to your SM. "Do something with the local bay keeper" isn't specific enough, but I'll bet he's got some great projects on his wish list if only he had someone to plan and execute them.

Good luck!

thank you every body for your comments.

Pipestone___1991 I read a post of yours in another topic and I loved the idea.

What do you guys think about me (and fellow scouts of coursse) making signs of where you're going and how far away it is. in the trails. I would also put up a like bullitin board with proxy glass at a landmark. Like i Live near kettle holes, so i can give a little history about them, etc.?

Thanks
