Well, my son got the last merit badge he needed signed off last night... called Scoutmaster for a Scoutmaster Conference... next is his BOR... he is really getting pumped now... he can see the prize.

Tell him to keep going. He is getting closer.

My son had his SM Conference last night, called the District Advancement Chair, and will be taking his Eagle book to the council office on Friday.

It's so good to be able to say that my son, too, is almost there!
He's finished all the required badges, the project is done, all the other pre-requisites are completed, and he's ready for his SM review.
All that's left is the application, life statement, and references.
He would have completed this sooner, but spent the entire summer working at Scout Camp (as he has for the past 4 summers), so I can't complain too much.
He still has a few months before his 18th birthday.
A successful BOR would make the best Christmas present for me, as this is the pinnacle of 9 years of scouting for both of us. :D
And as good an honor as Eagle is, the best part is that he plans to continue serving Scouting by his involvement with the Troop as ASM after his birthday, plus his OA participation as a Ceremonialist, and Venturing duties. That he plans to STAY in Scouting impresses me so much more than some of these kids we see today who get their Eagle, then vanish, never giving back to the younger scouts coming up.
Congratulations to all you parents of Eagles. I pray that I will be among you soon.
