Deer would be easy in my neighborhood - just sit in the kitchen and wait for them to come by to munch on the landscaping!

I agree that paintball should not be part of scouting. I was enlisted by my wife to accompany my 15 and 17 year-olds last Saturday. I still have bruises from it. I was only hit long distance, too. My older son got nailed on the back of his shoulder from short range and that mark will be there for a while.

I am going to see an orthopedist tomorrow about my knee, which I also injured there, but that's incidental to the paintball. I've had trouble with it before, but this is far worse.

I am not trying to be a smart butt, but I would imagine that AirSoft would be covered by this right??

What is a "Tour Permit"?

Imagine getting shot right in the head JK JK

I hope that you are not an adult leader...
I am a scout and know what that is, half the time I am the one in charge for filling them.

Your troop must not go camping, hiking, or anywhere other than your meeting place. That must suck!!!!

Actually, tracking and stalking were once 2nd Class requirements so I don't see them becoming a MB.

For stalking you had to stalk another Scout who knew he was being stalked for 1/2 mile without being detected.

I don't recall the distance for tracking.

That sounds amazing. I would love to do this, it sounds like a fun merit badge.

PS. I am taking this info on paintball to my Venture Crew, I am now the Pres. and was unsure of the rules of playing it as a crew, so thank you for clearing it up for me!

Never heard of anything of the sort. Perhaps a venture/varsity program feature?

Tracking & Stalking were Second Class requirements so they were not that difficult. After all, I did it! Stalking requires patience and slow quiet movement. You don't need special gear to do it.

Here are some sites for ideas:
