Hello everyone!!
I know that the basic standard for Cub Pack camping is for it to be held at BSA owned properties. However, I am pretty certain that I read a policy that Councils could approve other locations (such as State Parks) for use.
If I did read that, I can't seem to find where it is. Did I imagine it, or could someone point me to the right document?
Thanks.

BSA's Form 13-508 is required to be on file (good for two years in my Council) for Pack overnighters. What this document does is let Council "approve" the submitted site, then share that with Units to consider.
One Council local to me, apparently approves our State Parks (my State) for these Pack activities. My Council approves of Council properties, but considers sites submitted. My Council has a link (not by number) to this Form, or I can send it to someone/ We've had this come up a few times in the forums, though nobody has asked me for it. Perhaps they found it on National or somewhere?

Check with your service center. They no doubt have a list of approved camping areas for cubs

Our council is in the process of compiling the list of approved sites for cubs. We will be distributing in in the handout packet at our new training this spring, Cub Scout Outdoor Training. Which is a combination of BALOO and WOLF.

From
The Guide to Safe Scouting - Camping Section -
Pack Overnighters
These are pack-organized overnight events involving more than one family from a single pack, focused on age-appropriate Cub Scout activities and conducted at council-approved locations (councils use Pack Overnighter Site Approval Form, No. 13-508).
Note, it states council
approved, not council owned.

Thanks everyone. Not sure what happened. I know I looked at that section in the G2SS, but I didn't see that. Wonder if I was just asleep or if I pulled up an old copy.
In any case, Form 13-508 is what I was looking for.
(wagionvigil - fyi, our Council only shows Council owned properties as approved. The question came up from a friend who is a Webelos Den Leader and I said I would try and find out.)

That's the whole issue. Councils approve of their properties. If we want other sites, we have to do the leg work and submit it. So go visit some locations, and fill a form out. One of our guys travels, and checks out Parks for another program. So now he fills out these forms for me to give to Council. Cool!
