Postby fin24000 » Sun Feb 10, 2008 11:43 pm

OK as writen in the latest Camo thread:

RWSmith -

BSA Rules and Regulations -- Article X, Section 4. INSIGNIA, UNIFORMS and BADGES

Clause 4. Prohibition of Alteration or Imitation

(a). No alteration of, or additions to, the official uniforms, as described in the official publications, or the rules and regulations covering the wearing of the uniform and the proper combinations thereof on official occasions, may be authorized by any Scouting official or local Council or any local executive board or committee, except the National Executive Board after consideration by the Program Group Committee.

(b). Imitation of United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps or Air Force uniforms is prohibited, in accordance with the provisions of Act of Congress, approved June 3, 1916.

So You can imitate The Cost guard and National guard? if so the National guard still mainly uses woodland camo so that would open that.....

Just a thought.....

Without wasting time (right now) on a long-winded explanation as to why the Coast Guard and National Guard are not listed, the short answer is [still], No.

I leave it to you, for now, to ponder (or do a little history thinking) as to the why this would be so.

Well yes I know that they whereat around (Well the CG was but thats different) when the BSA was chartered but with such a large camo issue it would seem like they might update things.... and just FYI I don't care to make trouble I was just pointing something out :)

Well, for starters the National Guard falls under its parent branch. Army National Guard --> to Army and Air National Guard to Air Force. An Army National Guard soldier wears the same US Army patch that an Army soldier wears.

The Coast Guard, during a time of war, falls under the United States Navy. During peacetime, the Coast Guard falls under the Department of Homeland Security (used to be Department of Transportation).

The woodland camo uniform still being worn by the National Guard will be replaced within the next 2 or 3 years.
