You can request an area But depending upon need etc. You have a place to put choices in order of preference.
What are you interested in? And what region are you From? I might be able to help.

I'm interested in your rappelling area, photography, web design (last two are under media), and police/security type stuff.

I'm a 15, will be 16 year old at time of Jamboree

I think I may be interested in the other ropes areas too possibly.

Any help would be great:)

I'm from Southern IL whatever region that is. Midwest? probably

OK you are in central region. I do believe they still need staff for their tower. The Action Centers are operated by each region. The other areas are operated by National Like Photography etc. You should send in your choices and see what happens. I will check with the Guy from Central Region and See what they need at their Tower.

Didn't mean to confuse you. I was refering to the fact that I might know a little something about web design. Although I was invited to be on staff at the last Jamboree, I was too busy to go. And so far, nobody has invited me to be on staff this time and that makes me very sad

I am officially inviting you. NO ONE needs to be asked to Volunteer(funny isn't it?) Download an application mark your choices and send it in to your council service center. They approve of you and send on to National For Assignment. If you request an Action Center it is then sent to the Region Service Center for assignment etc.

A word of advice. Most of the most popular staff areas are being rapidly filled. Be specific on you application. Don't admit experience in an area where you think you just couldn't work, chances are...

SCUBA/Snorkeling has a large number of staff and is filling rapidly. We are all tented right next to our area and eat a block away at Dining Hall "B".

John Kempecky was on the SCUBA Staff in 01. He was a Chief in Wagion and was a section VC.
The Action Centers are probably the most open at this time as you can see from my post with what is needed in the NER. I know that in 01 they were still taking staff the week before the Jamboree Started

If John was a Yoot, he was put in that post-apocalyptic Thunderdome of a Youth Camp up around Longstreet. I went up there visiting a couple Scouts from my Troop that were on Staff. I fully expected Tina Turner to start belting out a tune. Anarchy reigned supreme, and the boys hardly ever got a decent night's rest. I found it real hard to believe Scouts were actually doing the stuff that was going on there.

We've been promised that our Yoots get to stay in the same housing area with us in '05. This is the way it was done before without any of the problems with meals and logistics with separated housing.

I'm not too keen on the decision to go Kiosk Lunches for everyone.
Reminds me of my military deployment MREs. I hope w'ell at least be able to eat them at the tent at Dining Hall B. It was nice to sit and talk to folks at meals.

Actually our youts were with us in the SUB Camp. It was pretty nice that we could meet at night and just sit around and shoot the bull. AS far as food goes we never got to eat lunch in our sub camp we always had Kiosk Meals. Our other meals in Our Sub Camp really were bad and my guys actually went to other sub camps to eat. We have been promised better in 05.

I'm sending my application to council by Friday! :D

I've talked to my SM and he liked to hear that I was wanting to do it. He said he actually thought of doing the same, but didnt have the vacation time for it.

He got his acceptance letter today. He'll be working with me at SCUBA. Another rider!
