My crew voted to go as individuals, then none of them signed up.

I volunteered to help if needed but then was not asked to actually help.

I considered that, but I am more formal when it comes to volunteering and working "up the chain of command." I let them know I am available and willing to help. It is up to the leadership above me to determine if I am needed.

I did not become a registered leader (whne my son was in Cubs) until the Pack asked me to fill a position (his 1st Webelo Year). I made it clear to them when he became a Tiger, that I will gladly register and get trained in any position they need me to fill. The answer I got was "we're covered but thanks."

I still wnet to every meeting and just helped as a parent.

I know. But I have no youth going and was not asked to be there to help. So for me, it would like being a fifth-wheel.

Just got back from Quest What a great Weekend. 325 Venrtures rom all over ARea 4. The Area VOA did a fantastic job of organizating and making sure all went well. The said part is next year the area is being split in half so instead of 20 councils we will have only 10 to draw from We are planning on advertising in Eastern Ohio.
Climbing,SHooting,Canoeing games,Life flight and great food.

was posted on the NER L-List and Was copied from that. I think it is something that everyone involved in the Scouting program needs to read and decide what we can do in our councils to promote Venturing and make sure it works. It appears to me that in many councils Venturing is not supported enough or lets say promoted enough. I was at this event and the tower was only 40 feet but I am sure it seemed like 150 feet to many that attempted it. The youth had a fantastic weekend and the Area 4 VOA did a bang up job in their planning. This is written about GSUSA But the same holds true for those of us that think only tan shirts count.
