Power Point Question

Postby wagionvigil » Tue Apr 01, 2008 8:18 am

OK I am anything but a Computer Geek so I have a question for somke of you real geeks out there. I would like to run a power point through a regular TV. Is there a way to do this without buying a 100.00 converter?

Look on your laptop...I assume that is what you will use.

Look for a yellow plug, possibly by the headphone and microphone jack. Its known as the TV Out jack.

If it is there, plug the viedo cable from your tv to that port. Yellow to yellow, if theres sound, plug the either the white or red cable into the headphone jack and the other into the white or red spot on the tv.

Hope it helps, if not lemme know.

Ok, here is what I have found.

Go to EBay, and do a search for VGA to RCA.

You will find a cable that plugs into the monitor port on the computer. The ones I found costs $1.99 + S & H. I dont know how much S and H will be, you will need to see what it is for your area.

First, you should check your laptop and see if it has an S-Video output. If so, then a S-Video cable will connect to TVs with S-Video inputs. Even if the TV you want to use doesn't have an S-Video input the cables for S-Video to RCA (or Composite video) are inexpensive and work.

If you don't have that, the VGA to RCA may work. Depends on a lot of things. Some of the more responsible sellers quote that it works for about 80% of their customers. Read carefully before you count on this one.

For me, I have a bag of assorted adapter cables, etc. that I carry with me for just such cases as this. Usually they work, but not always.
