I have just signed up for Philmont was it really hard for you expierenced scouts?

It's not hard. Anyone in a competitive sport (i.e. high school) will find Philmont is cake compared to summer conditioning.

Make sure your boots are well broken in in advance. Hike several miles a week with the pack you will be wearing, and your boots, with about 30-40 lbs in the pack. Start this about 2-3 months in advance of your trek.

Adding to jr56's excellant suggestion, do buy a good pair of boots. I had gotten a pair of Timberlands for $120 back in early '06 when I went. I then used them on three practice hikes and then 1 week of sumer camp.
