Patrol Elections.... In case of a tie?

What happens in a Patrol election in case of a tie? Does the same thing happen for SPL as for a patrol?

Fortunately BSA does not dictate how elections are carried out. For patrols & patrol size troops I would try to to get the scouts to come to a consensus with an impartial facilitator saying as little as possible. For SPL we always have a run off with the top two candidates.

We typically use the run off system as well. We give each candidate another couple of minutes to discuss why they are running for the position.

Let the boys figure it out and the SPL can be the final decision maker.

Or use Rock, Paper, Scissors as described in the G2SS.

So there is no direction? :-( My son and I both though we remembered reading that it was the SPL's decision, but now don't remember where.

Can't come to a consensus. Dead even every time. Not good.

BSA will never get that far into the weeds to provide the guidance you're looking for. The SPL decides and move on. Gives all a good Leadership lesson learned
