OK........So what is the process? How is one trained to be a BSA Trainer for a District and be legally allowed to wear the
"District Training Team" patch, the silver loops and the "Trained" patch?

Wow!!! Two out of the three Councils I have been in have a District Training Team patch and wear the Silver loops when training. But then this would not be the first time I have been told some Councils/Districts/Unit do wha they want.Nuts4Scouts wrote:There is no "District Training Team" patch, the color of the shoulder loops you wear are for the primary REGISTERED position you are fulfilling at the time (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, Commissioner, etc), there is no REGISTERED "District Trainer" position with BSA. The trained patch is worn by leaders who have completed all of the basic training for their position and it is worn only with the emblem of office for that position.
I did ask the Training Chair. He did not know the process ones uses to become a Trainer for the Venture program.Nuts4Scouts wrote:Get to know your District and Council Training Chair. Let them know you are available to help with any of the trainings you have taken. Take the Trainer Development Conference training.
I agree. I like the Venture themed patches out there that while not official (Trained, VOA right sleeve, and Corps of Discovery, and award knots) from the the BSA, still show the proper Spirit of Venturing.FrankJ wrote:BTW I am not the uniform police. I really do not care that much. More important to me is providing a program meaningful for the boys. If that means slight uniform imperfections per the insignia guide, so what.
I hope it is well presented and you get a lot out of it. Ask these trainers what is working for thier Crew, what events are well attended, how is youth leadership working or not working for them.FrankJ wrote:I am taking VLST training this weeking. If I think about it. I will ask one of the trainers it takes to be a certified venturing trainer.

Anyone had that course yet? (We just had it today.)
