Chief Seattle Council is holding their annual Program & Training Conference in a few days (Oct 18, 2008.) http://www.seattlebsa.org/images/08PTCBrochure.pdf The one day event offers four 1 1/2 hour sessions for all the levels of Scouting. Courses include Pack Events, Get With High Adventure, How to Form a Crew, & Commissioners Training. Regular "classes" are also included like Den Leader Training & SMASM. For the most part, the classes are informative and well worth the time.
Here is my issue: almost all of the courses are repeats from previous years. I know that there are great ideas for 1 1/2 hour classes, and I hope that folks on this forum can give me great suggestions that I can pass along to the director.
My ideas
Idea #1: Working with Scouts who have ADHD We had an excellent Roundtable session on this topic several years ago. I think almost every troop has at least one Scout with ADHD, and most of us would like some ideas of how to work effectively with these guys.
Idea #2: Working with Scouts who have Aspergers Syndrome
Idea #3: Networking
Idea #4: Merit Badge Counselor Training & Networking
Thank you, in advance, for sharing your ideas & experiences. I know there is a lot of wonderful training going on out there.
