Scout Recruitment and Retention

Postby biglou » Tue Jan 13, 2009 2:47 am

I hate to say that I do post alot after 12 AM but that is when I get my best ideas! Tonight I was wondering about Scout Recruitment and Retention. My Troop has done better than what we have in previous years in both departments. Our recruitment is up thanks to the First Class requirements and personal initiative on the Scouts and Leader's part. But the retention part still needs worked on. I know some of the Leaders talk to the kids they have not seen while they are out and about in town. I send them messages on their myspace accounts (myspace works for my Troop, most of the older boys have an account) or even give them a call on their home or cell phone. I was just wondering what others have done. Thanks.

We have gotten away from Myspace and are now using Face book. Lodge Committees have pages, conclave has a page etc. The youth and adults are doing a whole lot of communicating through it at this time and everyone is keeping informed.
