To drag this thread, kicking and screaming, back to the original topic......

We presented the Advancement program again to the parents, emphasizing that it is a scouting method and not the ultimate goal. And emphasizing that we want it to be the boy's accomplishment and not the parents.

We seemed to have a decently productive discussion regarding what is guiding or reminding versus pushing and hand-holding. Unfortunately, our most hovering helicopter parent was not there.

I know a couple parents did come away with a better understanding of how and why things are set up the way they are. We will see over the next couple months if it helped.

We will probably have the pages we passed out posted to our web page as a pdf in the next couple weeks, and when that happens, I can post a link here for anyone else who wants to use the pages. There is a one page summary on rank advancement and a one page summary on merit badges.

I would like to have a copy of the program that you presented to your troop. I might try to use it for our troop.

I would be glad to send it to you, but you do not have an email button on the bottom of your posts.
