Site Survey

Postby ThunderingWind » Wed Feb 04, 2009 11:42 am

When will National tell each Council the grid coordinates of their particular camp site at Fort A.P. Hill?

And when will the advance party be allowed to travel to Fort A.P. Hill to do a site survey so they can plan the layout of tents, site gate, etc....???

Don't hold your breath on this one

You will be lucky to get your sub-camp number ahead of time.
Site location, probably not till your there.
Access to the military base :?: , only if you have an active or retire military ID would be my guess and even then only after a lot of questions at the gate

Isn't that in the Jamboree Leader's guidebook to plan for a certain dimension campsite? I am almost certain there is. But I lost my copy due to computer issues. Bucktail has also checked our gateway to make sure it is compliant with Jamboree Rules. It would not hurt to ask previous Jambo Leader's about the sites they had. They can be a great resource.

I was wanting to go so we can make a terrain model of the site for promotional purposes, and other site design planning.

Ed that will not happen. When WE go as official Jamboree our names are on a list. ALso you will not know where you will be in the sub camp until you actually get there If I am not mistaken.SIte assignments are subject to change up to arrival. You have a blocked off area everyione has the same amunt and you must work within that area regardless of what terrain problems you may encounter. AP hill is pretty flat with rolling hills. Google earth may help you get an idea. Find A P Hill then NEw London on that site. That is Lee drive at the Top of Thomas Rd You can see the outlines from 2005 as the pictures were taken right after the jamboree I know I told you all this but I am posting here for others to look at.
