Scouting T-shirts at the Jamboree

Postby ThunderingWind » Fri Feb 13, 2009 10:59 am

Must all the t-shirts worn during the day be jamobree related?

Is there any bonus for all the youth of one Troop or Patrol wearing the same shirt each day? Meaning matching shirts each day, not wearing the same single shirt over and over and over or all trying to fit into one 20XL shirt.

I am going to post this on the Yahoo Group as well.

Most Contingents have shirts made up. One of the best in 01 was the troop that all had the limegreen shirts made up for the Jamboree it was not hard to find the members of that troop. But in 05 there were too many lime green. The past two Jamborees the rappel staff had a tan shirt. It was cool and did not show the dirt. Red Blue and Black are just too hot In 01 OUr shirts had the Rappelling commands printed on the Shirt Front so the scouts could read from the shirt as they rappelled.

I am aware that many councils have shirts made. But I can see not everyone being able to afford enough shirts so they all match, every day while NOT wearing the tan shirt.

So if one does not wash and dry it everynight.......

Is there a bonus for each Patrol or Troop being in matching t-shirts everyday? Special points toward Troop of the Jamboree Trophy or something?
Are boys allowed to wear their unit shirts, camp shirts, or other generic scout t-shirt?

Do all shirts have to be jamboree related?

What about the adult leadership? Since we are just hanging out in camp all day, does it really matter what scout related shirt we have on?

I worked on staff in 2005. I bought a Jambo polo, and I believe 5 staff shirts. I also had bought one regular Jambo shirt and then the rest of the time I wore normal Scout t-shirts. In fact, several of the pictures of myself that I have from Jambo I am actually wearing my home troop t-shirt rather than a Jambo shirt.

OK...got the non-Jamboree issue resolved....

But is there any bonus points toward "Troop/Patrol of the Day," "Super Troop" or some other jamboree award for a Troop or Patrol for having everyone wear the same shirt everyday, thus showing unity?

We have a short company willing to give us a shirt per day ONLY IF there is an award to be won.

Check the leaders guide and see what it says about campsite inspections etc.
