Expedited Service?

Does anyone have experience with using Expedited Service for an Eagle Application turn-around? Everything seems to be taking longer than expected for #1's Eagle, and I'd like to get it back asap after his EBOR (which we're still waiting on because the Council still has the app). I was wondering if the $40 is worth it, and if it truly does speed things up.

Everything is done electronicially from your service center. I asked our Eagle Secretary at our council about this and that is what she told me. She said turnaround should be less than two weeks She has seen some in just over a week.

Unless there is a pressing reason like the scout is 18 and going to boot camp and you want to hold a ECOH before he leaves, I would say...don't waste your money. The electrons won't move any faster (unless your council's on a dial up modem )

Just make sure your service sends the stuff. If it is delayed it will be the fault of the person in your service center that is responsible for it getting sent.

From our council office, (in upstate NY), it takes about 10 days to get the paperwork back from National. BUT, as mentioned in other threads, it depends on when the office sends it out electronically.

Here's my recommendation. Take flowers to your council's eagle secretary to get the app submitted promptly.

In our council (which had 2,274 eagle scouts in 2008) we receive the packets back from BSA national every Wednesday. If the eagle is submitted electronically by Wednesday, it will arrive back at our council office the next Wednesday morning. Paper copies are not sent to national anymore unless there is an issue (over 18, random audit, etc).

My son's paperwork was turned in to the council on August 17th. When I called yesterday I was told it would take about 8 weeks. Is my council an exception?

You can walk it there and back in 8 weeks. Longest we've ever had is 3 weeks.

My Troop used that last year when one of our Scouts was killed in a MVA. The service was worth it because we had the certificate in hand by Wednesday morning. Shane died on Sunday.

I called Friday to see if it was in, and the lady explained that our council tales longer because we have so many (1,000 per year). I guess since we submit a lot, National sits on them.

Lou...my point is that given the circumstances, there should have been no fee. Your case was not done as a matter of convenience but as a matter of necessity.

National sits on them or your council? What would be the benefit of National "sitting" on them? Sounds like a pretty weak story especially when the rest of us get them back in 2-3 weeks.

It takes our office 10 days to 2 weeks to get Eagle applications back. Sounds like your local is sitting on them until someone decides to load the info in all at one shot. Maybe a volunteer is needed to do it to speed up the process? Good luck!

The lady lied to you. What she meant to say was that your council takes longer because someone at the council office is not doing their job.

Our council does 3000 per year, and I've never seen one take over a month.

Yes, my council generally gets them back in 2-3 weeks.
